Originally from Melbourne Australia, I obtained a Bachelor of media arts at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1992, majoring in fine art photography. Even though this degree was about photography what really inspired me was the emerging technology at that time. Digital manipulation was breaking into fine art photography, twisting realities and creating uncertainty with the fine art world. The era of the object was over. I moved to London in 2000 to travel and immerse myself within a new culture and environment, my art was put on hold but I still had a passion for the image, took photos and searched out those obscure exhibitions involving cutting edge technology. It felt that by moving to London I had taken a step back in time, the digital revolution had not hit London yet and it was many years before it caught up. When I turned 30 I decided the time was right to start my art again and I began creating purely digital images, building them in Photoshop, painting with pixels and adding vibrant digital shots to the composition. Using meditation as an inspiration, the images I produced were a direct influence from these visions and emotions at the time. In 2006 I began a Masters in Digital Art at Camberwell College of Arts. Using various digital techniques I apply my dream context in different ways to visualise my dreams. Focusing on a threefold idea; image, sound and internal thoughts, I have produced an online dream journey, taking the user into my dream world via my dream diary, images, films and quotes. My installation is a performance based sound piece, where I explore sound and its power to create their own visuals within the mind, creating a mesmoric journey into my dreamscape, listening to the sound of my dreams. |
